KATE TEMPEST POTTERY

I studied sculpture at university where I became familiar with the versatility of clay. Later, I worked as a gilder and restorer of antique picture frames and furniture before returning to clay and potting. My studio sits on the top of a hill beneath a moor overlooking the Yorkshire dales. It is a very peaceful and inspiring place to work. I use stoneware clay and make my own glazes. I love the unpredictability of the material and the mix of skill and luck involved in each stage of the process and the undiminished excitement when the kiln finally reveals the finished product.
